Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to provide application support to ensure my client's Bluetooth Audio customers can reach production as quickly as possible.

The role accelerates the customer development process by ensuring that customers' technical requirements are met and problems resolved. This is achieved by working with customers to identify their technical specifications, advising them on implementation issues, testing scenarios that concern their projects and validating my client's software and hardware deliverables within the scope of their project.

This role requires you to work with minimal supervision and involves the mentoring of junior members of the team. It ideally suits anyone who likes problem solving in an energetic environment.

Additionally the Senior Applications Engineer acts as a source of technical knowledge for more junior members of the team- offering guidance and support where necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Drives resolution to major technical issues encountered during the customer development process.
Provides application support and training (presentations, workshops and demos) to our customers, distributors, internal staff and regional FAE teams.
Occasional travel to key customer sites and regional offices.
Assesses and addresses new detail of customer projects. Which includes novel approaches to solving customer requirements in terms of application modification and/or firmware modification.
Technical support to BU management and marketing when visiting customers.
Develops customer relationships and understands customer needs.
Recognises and provides customer feedback to marketing on new business opportunities and features for my client's next generation wireless chips.
Keeps abreast of new specifications and customer requirements to influence my client's product developments and example designs.
Produces app notes, white papers, reference designs and undertakes design reviews, SW porting/integration and analysis of problems on customer projects.

Person Specification - Required

The ideal candidate should be of degree calibre or equivalent experience in lieu.
Excellent hands on experience with embedded hardware and software debugging using PC software tools, power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMM and logic analysers.
Ability to understand both detailed hardware/software components and top level/system issues
Ability to "own" problems and take fixes to a conclusion
Ability to make decisions (technical, and programme/customer related) without supervision and where no obvious process is available
Diagnostic and analytical skills with a limited amount of technical information
Dynamic and outgoing personality with customer facing and commercial awareness
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Excellent technical ability and proven experience in embedded C programming, comprehension of specifications and software architecture implementations. Source code control and configuration management.

Person Specification - Desired

Wider knowledge base than just core competence.
Hands on experience of capturing/analysing air traces using wireless sniffers
Knowledge of memory architectures
Applications engineering in a semiconductor environment
Knowledge of wireless technology standards, specifically Bluetooth, FM, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS
Knowledge of Unix based environments and/or other programming/ scripting languages e.g. Python, perl, C++, Labview
Knowledge of Assembler and other development in resource constrained environments
Hands on experience with MatLab.
