Aerospace Design Engineer (Modifications)

My client is a global leader in aerospace design and manufacturing. Based in Bedfordshire, they are currently seeking to recruit a number of Design Engineers to join their expanding in-house teams to meet increased of new projects and demands on production rates. Applications are invited from Design Engineers who have worked in the aerospace or automotive industries, in particular individuals with experience of designing interior structures or seating, and working with metallic and composite materials.

The purpose of this role is to design and develop engineering solutions to anticipated and unexpected challenges, in particular around customer modification requests and required upgrades/repairs, including mechanical products, ECI systems, motors, heat transfer systems and thermal hydraulics for the production, measurement, transmission and use of energy.

This role covers a range of additional responsibilities including:

- Design and detail modelling of components to meet programme requirements
- Create Service Schedules and Repair Schemes that meet customer modifications or repair needs that also conform to EASE requirements
- Manage and meet cost and weight targets
- Communicate technical information with customers and suppliers
- Participate in Design Reviews through each phase of the New Product Introduction process
- Select and apply appropriate materials and processes for each design element
- Ensure successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole
- Generate and/or revise specifications
- Participate in validation of products (including prototyping, testing, DFMEA)

This is a challenging role; the successful applicant will need to be flexible, determined and self-motivated. A working knowledge of manufacturing systems and sub systems integration and assembly is desirable. Ideally candidates should have a good understanding of aircraft structures, interior architecture, and an awareness of the certification process. Candidates must be able to convey technical requirements and constraints to all relevant stakeholders, and contribute engineering solutions on projects, production and production support. You must be a competent CAD user, ideally Catia v5 or Unigraphics. The role will also involve occasional national and international travel so a driving licence and passport are desirable.

Various shifts available including weekend working if desired. More information available upon application.
