Our client is seeking a Motor Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to work in their family run business based in Oakham. You will be working in their busy workshop on a range of motor vehicles. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of makes and models including Classic cars.

You would need to have own vehicle due to the location of role.

The role
As a Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for the following:
• Completing full maintenance repairs, servicing and breakdowns.
• Working on a range of vehicles.
• Ensuring that all work is recorded and carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Road testing vehicles, carrying out necessary inspections and meeting servicing requirements


About you
The successful candidate will have a good level of experience as a light motor vehicle technician with good knowledge of common brands of car. Additionally, they will have:

• MOT Class 4 Tester would advantageous but not essential
• Strong customer service and communication skills - able to translate complex technical jargon into plain English for the average customer.
• Good diagnostic skills able to quickly identify the source of a problem and other related issues - aware of diagnostic resources and takes advantage of them as necessary
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong technical aptitude - able to use a variety of technical tools to diagnose and address a wide variety of vehicular problems.
• Up-to-date technology knowledgeable on the most common problems or what could be the most common problems.
• Interested in advancing in the profession, has a strong work ethic and leadership skills - is able to take charge when situations warrant
• A personal inventory of quality tools
