Bitumen Contract Operator - World Leading Oil and Gas co.

A World Leading Oil and Gas Company has an exciting opportunity for a Bitumen Contract Operator to join the team responsible for running the Bitumen Plant production facility within this Oil and Gas company.

Job Details:

  • To ensure that all operations at the plant are carried out safely and in accordance with designated control procedures and work instructions.
  • To capture and record all orders placed via the Eastham office.
  • To assist plant technicians as directed supplying polymer to the blending mill.
  • To sample the finished product tanks, test Penetration, softening point, viscosity and entrained H2S of each batch manufactured to ensure product conforms to the relevant standards in force at the time. Maintain laboratory records to ensure full traceability and retain finished product samples.
  • Provision of bitumen samples that may include laboratory blending for customer assessment in their products.
  • Carryout contractor inductions and maintain induction records in accordance with the necessary procedures.
  • To ensure that the site is maintained in a clean and safe condition at all times.
  • To monitor the performance of the plant to ensure efficient operation, including fault diagnosis and troubleshooting. Liaise as necessary with SLC engineers.
  • To maintain good relations with Eastham traffic office to ensure that the corporate needs of the Company are met.
  • Sample, test and monitor the quality of import operations to and from site, manage all streams ensuring product specification is maintained throughout.
  • To manage the process and laboratory waste in accordance with site procedures.
  • Entering and recording unplanned maintenance as required within B GAME lite. Where necessary carry out maintenance tasks and assist in the execution of maintenance tasks.

About You:

  • An effective team player and the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Experience and an awareness of risks of handling bitumen
  • An understanding of plant process control with the necessary understanding to assist in the identification of fault diagnosis
  • An RTITB qualification for the operation of the fork lift truck.
  • A qualified First Aider
  • Trained in the use of penetrometer, Brookfield viscometer, Density, Total water immersion and soften point equipment
  • Positive, keen and enthusiastic attitude

This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed Purchasing team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
