Workshop Technician

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Workshop Technician to join a leading company based in Wokingham!

The company is a friendly family business, based at Fishponds Industrial Estate in Wokingham, providing on-site and back to base service support for opticians throughout the UK. Due to continued business growth the company is seeking to employ a Workshop Technician on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities include;

• Completion of electromechanical and IT repairs in a workshop environment.
• Undertaking technical upgrades and refurbishments on a wide range of ophthalmic instrumentation.
• Equipment servicing, including calibration checks, to ensure compliance with customers’ / industry requirements.
• Liaising with customers / colleagues to resolve technical issues.

Skills & attributes required;

• Some experience of electronic and mechanical engineering.
• IT knowledge and experience
• Experience of working within a workshop environment
• The ability to be adaptable and flexible is essential as the successful candidate will be required to work on a diverse range of instruments across a wide range of applications.
• Good organisation and documentation skills.

The successful candidate will receive in-house training and will be working closely with other staff. Experience within the ophthalmic industry would be useful but not essential, however the candidate must be adaptable to a wide array of challenges. No specific qualifications are specified, but an engineering based qualification will be preferable.

Salary; £22,000 - £26,000 negotiable depending on experience
