Location: To work across North Hampshire with a primary base of either Basingstoke or Aldershot
Salary: £18,501pa pro rata
Contract Type: Permanent, full and part time hours will be considered

The orgnaization is a registered charity that has been providing care, support and advice for over 30 years to vulnerable people across Hampshire and Dorset, giving them the tools and resources they need to live independent, secure and valued lives.
The Role

We are looking for Domestic Violence and Abuse Workers to join our team at You First in the North of Hampshire. Our specialist domestic abuse service for the organization delivers excellent services, offering support to people living in crisis accommodation and for people living within their own community. These roles will work to provide practical and emotional support to women, men and children experiencing domestic abuse in Hampshire.

You will proactively support people living in refuge and provide outreach support across North Dorset to people living in social, private, temporary or owner occupier accommodation. You will also be involved in assessments; writing, monitoring and reviewing safety and support plans ensuring interventions are appropriate; awareness raising events; and group work.

Due to the nature of the work we do, being a car driver with a vehicle available for work is essential for this post, as too is the ability to be flexible as travel and some evening and weekend working will be required.

About You

You need to be a highly motivated and innovative person who is able to develop effective professional partnerships with other external agencies. It will be essential that you can remain calm when dealing with a crisis or emergency, and that you take a person-centred and proactive approach in all you do.

Our clients have asked for someone who is warm and approachable, and who has good listening and communication skills and can confidently offer them appropriate support and advice. The ideal Domestic and Abuse Worker will have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as good organisation practices to ensure all support paperwork, and risk assessments are completed accordingly.

Essential Requirements

The ideal Domestic Violence & Abuse Worker will have:

* Experience of working with female and male victims of domestic abuse on a 1:1 or group basis and an understanding of the impact domestic abuse has on adults and children
* Experience of risk management, needs led assessment and support planning
* Knowledge of homelessness legislation and welfare benefits/welfare reform
* Experience of working effectively in partnership with others
* An understanding of diversity and inclusion and the importance of advocating for fair treatment for all our clients
* Excellent listening and communication skills
* The ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and clients which will include evenings and weekends (as required)
* A full driving licence with a vehicle available for work purposes
