Manchester Independent Visitor Co-ordinator

 Manchester Children’s Rights Service

Coram Voice has been commissioned to provide the Children’s Rights Service for Manchester City Council.  This includes providing an Advocacy Service for looked after children, children in need and care leavers and an Independent Visitor Service providing IVs for up to 84 children per year both inside and outside the city. To deliver this exciting service we are establishing an office base in central Manchester and are recruiting a full staff team to join our national organisation.

The Independent Visitors (IV) Service is for children and young people in care.  The responsible authority has a duty to appoint an IV where it appears to be in the child’s interest to do so.  The purpose of the IVs, who are volunteers, is to provide a continuous relationship for a child or young person, to advise and befriend, spending time with a young person on a regular basis encouraging them to express their views and opinions and involve themselves in new activities.

The IV Co-ordinator will assist the Project Manager in the delivery of the service maintaining high standards and ensuring that contractual requirements are met. They will also assist in the recruitment, training and provision of supervision to Independent Visitors.
