About us

At Bath Spa University we work with one clear vision: to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. And we place collaboration at the heart of everything we do. With ever growing student numbers, we make sure our people are engaged and empowered by blending digital technologies, international perspectives, work-oriented connections and inspirational teaching. Together we're on a journey to transform our students' lives. And it starts with people like you.

About the role

The College of Liberal Arts is looking for a Senior Administrator who will support the development of administrative processes and systems and deliver administrative support to students and staff of the College of Liberal Arts, overseeing the work of others in the team and acting as an escalation point for more complex queries and issues.

The Senior Administrator will be an active member of the Administration team, contributing improvement ideas, taking forward initiatives and independently delivering a wide range of administrative activities, the focus of which will be agreed with the Administration Coordinator.

They will support the work and development of productions, performances and events across the College, assisting academic and support staff with the co-ordination and administration of events as well as liaising with industry partners regarding operational issues.

The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to work in a rapid-moving production and performance environment.

Therefore experience of the following is desirable:

  • live and/or media events;
  • liaising with industry partners and agencies;
  • Coordinating and /or developing productions, performances and events across an organisation, such as a theatre, arts centre or media company environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the quality management functions managed within their areas and provide administrative and advisory support to academic and academic related staff in the management and improvement of academic quality and standards.

What is the College of Liberal Arts?

An institutional clustering of subjects from the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences that respects intellectual and disciplinary diversity and that fosters creative and critical dialogues and collaborations. It draws on classical, humanistic, and enlightenment models of education that place the university at the heart of civic society, and seeks to advance and apply knowledge through intellectual freedom, critical thinking, creative curiosity, reasoned debate, and public engagement.

The Fields

Digital Academy

The Academy brings together programmes that are characterised by their potential for creative collaboration and are at the vanguard of innovative approaches to curriculum design, teaching and assessment. The Academy is formed because we recognise the huge potential of new technologies to transform, disrupt and reconfigure academic life, in particular the challenge to disciplinary boundaries and to traditional modes of teaching and learning. The Academy has a pivotal role in the dissemination of innovative ways of designing and delivering academic programmes and working with students in novel ways.

Writing and Performance

This brings together courses that include live performance as well as creative work by musicians, writers and actors in film and television. Through collaborative practice and a range of modular choices, students are encouraged to engage with the liberal arts agenda. Writing and Performance enhances employment prospects by engaging students with the demands of a portfolio career and therefore with BSU graduate attributes. This configuration of subjects, and their public-facing role, establishes BSU's work as a local, national and international ‘brand' whilst developing our cultural agenda. This will be attractive because it is relatively unusual to offer a diverse range of cognate subjects in a collaborative arrangement that facilitates such varieties of creative practice.
