Technical Project Manager - Earth Observation - Leatherhead


With over 36 years in the industry, CGI Space is a rapidly growing business with exciting projects and prospects across the Navigation, Earth Observation, Satcoms and Spacecraft Operations domains. We currently have around 500 members working on projects in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. We are seeking to expand our team of professionals with opportunities at a variety of levels to service our clients' needs and to explore and implement new business opportunities in Space.

CGI's space team is growing rapidly and has a particular need for a Technical Project manager to run a variety of Earth Observation projects. Typically, such projects involve the development of a SW application or service to exploit EO data, for example to process data to meet specific user requirements, or to exploit synergies between different data streams. Other projects look at increasing user uptake for existing data, or to research new data applications. Examples of past project are given at

You will be responsible for delivering projects to an agreed baseline, while managing project finances, reporting, schedule and risks. You will have direct interaction with the client, end-users and partner organisations, so presentational and interpersonal skills are important.
As well as managing project teams, you will also take a hands-on role in tasks such as proposal writing, user requirements gathering, documentation, client presentations, testing and acceptance. As such it is important to have excellent communication skills and a high degree of technical rigor. Required qualifications to be successful in this role
* University degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline - e.g. Science,
Engineering or Computer Science
* Strong project management skills and the ability to complete complex tasks with minimal
guidance and to work and cooperate with others;
* Proven project management track record, including risk and issue management;
* Excellent client facing and written/verbal communication skills;
* Experience developing applications and services to exploit EO data.

Highly Desirable:

* Experience of working with ESA, especially within programmes such as DUE, VAE, IAP.
* Knowledge of Earth Observation concepts and familiarity with the Earth Observation data-
user community
* Knowledge of ESA and Third Party Earth Observation satellite missions

This role is based in Leatherhead and will require full time attendance at our Leatherhead offices.

This role includes the opportunity for some occasional international travel to client sites, especially within Europe.

Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level, so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it.
