Technical Support Manager, Manchester, Food Manufacturing

The Role:

To support the site technical objectives through the design and management of the Food

Safety manual, Specification systems, and intake procedures for ingredients. To support the Head of Technical with Internal audit, customer and External Audit visits.

Responsibilities Include:

• Map and define all operational processes, including procedures, work instructions and forms
• Establish and maintain appropriate Quality Management Systems to meet accreditation requirements (HACCP, BRC etc)
• Plan and train Technical and other staff to required standards for HACCP.
• Ensure appropriate checking procedures of ingredient quality against specification on intake and through production/packing
• Managing and monitoring supplier non-conformances, customer complaints and corrective actions
• Ensure that ingredients, products and swabs are sampled to the correct testing regimes for microbiology, chemistry and nutritional
• Support the Head of Technical to co-ordinate internal and site Audits and follow-up on corrective actions
• Preparing for and hosting site audits / visits
• Maintain & regularly review Specifications (Raw Materials & Packaging, Factory and Finished Product)
• Support Technical Team in achieving any necessary cultural change and bringing about an environment of continual improvement
• Manage and develop the Technical Services Team to ensure that they can do their job effectively and competently
• Ensure appropriate training of staff on Intake, QA/GMP processes
• Keep up-to-date with legislation and industry changes, and ensure that site systems are changed appropriately
• Liaise with others in the Company Technical function to gain leverage from existing procedures and to share experiences

Salary: £35,000-£40,000
