Audit and Accounts Client Manager

Main purpose of role

Day to day responsibility for a portfolio of Audit Clients, including:

* Managing the audit process
* Providing accounting services as part of the Corporate & Business team
* Coordinating other services provided by the firm
* Managing the workflow and the working capital on clients
* Liaising with Tax Managers

The Client Manager (Client Relationship Handler) liaises with and communicates to the Partner/Director (Client Relationship Owner) responsible for a particular client and they are the primary point of contact for the client on audit matters.

Client

* Ensure that audit and other services provided to the client are carried out in an efficient and timely basis
* Ensure that the client receives all the information they require to ensure smooth running of the process
* Review performance with the client and make recommendations for improvements to their systems
* Invest time in building relationships with clients

Internal Operations

* Ensure that letters of engagement and permanent client files are kept up to date
* Arrange and attend planning meetings, identifying issues and resolving problems
* Attend regular communication meetings with the Client Relationship Owner to ensure that all concerned are fully up to date with matters arising on the client, including any anticipated problems arising and overruns on the budget
* Help to prepare, maintain and deliver key client plans

Learning and Development

* Manage the performance of the teams that work for you
* Develop the team that work for you by passing on your knowledge, delegating effectively and identifying opportunities to develop
* Actively develop yourself technically and develop your soft skills and management competencies
* Provide feedback and encourage review, reflection and self-learning
* Be responsible for training/coaching and mentoring the Corporate and Business team

Working Capital Management

* Take responsibility for preparing and delivering the client budgets within the portfolio
* Work with Client Relationship Owner in negotiating fees with clients and following the no surprise fee policy
* Manage the billing process, to ensure that bills are issued in a timely manner
* Keep up to date with recovery and be prepared to share successes and failures plus input on how to improve performance
* Review work in progress regularly and investigate any unexpected anomalies
* Ensure all jobs are planned in and that they can be effectively resourced, attending weekly Retain planning meetings
* Attend update meeting to review planning and discuss matters arising
* Liaise with other departments

Workflow

Skills and Qualifications

* ACA, ACCA or AAT qualified ideally with experience of being first contact with some clients and managing the relationship with them
* Good IT skills, familiar with a number of IT systems
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* The ability to demonstrate a proven track record in client service skills
* The ability to demonstrate that you have taken on additional responsibility
* Planning and organising skills
