Who we are looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for a Director to join the Private Business team in Tax Scotland. Additional senior resource at Director level is needed to support the Private Business Tax lead partner in Scotland principally in the following areas:
Maintaining and increasing market profile and presence in the Scottish market (predominantly central belt)Providing technical and leadership support and direction for the Private Business Tax teams in Glasgow and Edinburgh and the existing client baseAssisting in the growth and leadership of the Private Business Tax Practice in Glasgow and Edinburgh in particular as well as working to expand opportunities and develop and maintain a sustained senior market presence in the rest of the central belt and North and North East of Scotland including in Aberdeen; Dundee; Inverness.Taking the client lead on a number of existing clients and with responsibility for growing market share in the Private Business and Private Client space to help us to achieve our growth aspirations.
The successful candidate will ideally already have a strong market profile in the Private Business space and have previous experience at Director level in the "big 4" or be a Partner or equivalent grade in a smaller professional services firm. The individual candidate must have a strong skills set in building and maintaining excellent client relationships and be able to manage and support a staff of highly trained professionals .
About the role
The successful candidate will be engagement leader on a wide portfolio of both Private Business (corporate) and Private Clients (Personal) , in addition to leading some PE back clients and Partnerships and will have ultimate responsibility for managing these client relationships and the financial metrics arising from these engagements with the support of the client engagement team.

There will also be opportunities to work closely with internal specialists in all areas of Tax Scotland, including Indirect; Reward & Employment; Pensions ; Corporate and personal tax compliance specialists; R&D; Capital Allowances; International Tax; IHT and Trust specialists in order to support a wide client proposition.

The individual will also be responsible for increasing market share both in the Central belt and in the North East of Scotland.

On the staff front the candidate will demonstrate strong inter-personal skills to provide technical support and on the job training for more junior members of the team as well as assisting with staff development and other people matters.
Requirements
The requirements for the role are as follows:
Relevant qualifications in CA; LLB ATII; CTA; or equivalent.Relevant experience in all aspects of Private Client/ Private Business consulting adviceStrong market skills with a proven track record of winning new workA commitment to continuing to enhance technical and other knowledge and skills;Willingness to take on new and challenging work;Risk awareness;Excellent team playing skills;Good communication skills;Self-motivation; andGood organisational and people skills Additional information
Amount of time office based: 60-70%
Amount of time at client sites out in the market: 30 -40%
Requirement to travel/overnight stays away from home: Occasional, depending on client projects and senior team events.
