Acorn Recruitment is seeking an Interim Site Manager for a global manufacturing business on the outskirts of Bristol.

Salary - GBP50,000pa (pro-rata) + car, health care and bonus

The role is to cover sickness for a 6 month period

The highly driven manufacturing professional will take full responsibility for the operation and ultimately its commercial success including overall financial and budget control. You will provide clear, decisive leadership to a diverse team & will be tasked with implementing sustainable improvement to existing processes.

Job details:

You will manage all manufacturing aspects of the site and will have full accountability for ensuring the production throughput required for the business. The person will lead the most efficient operation of the plant to ensure that the workload is planned and executed within set deadlines. This will include optimising the allocation of staff to cover all department roles to generate the highest levels of efficiency.

The Site Manager will be required to manage and develop key internal and external stakeholder relationships and talent within their team, and look to continuously improve processes in order to work towards and achieve 'best in class' operating standards.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

- Accountable for all production at the site.
- Creating a culture of continuous improvement within manufacturing. Coordinate all continuous improvement activities and employee development/training. Exhibit a 'hands on', practical approach driven by results.
- Analysing capacity within production and implement actions to maximise productive capacity. Directing the application productivity improvement programs, embrace and drive a 5S culture.
- Focus on waste reduction & the eradication of non-value added activities. Develop and act upon plans to facilitate process improvement, achieve and exceed run rates. Monitor & improve cost-productivity measures (output per FTE etc.) & drive year-on-year cost reductions through improved efficiencies & performance.
- Supporting, coaching and developing the supervisory team in all aspects of their roles to engender a dynamic working environment.
- Participate in price discussions with commercial teams to ensure optimisation of Gross Margin on existing and tendered business.
- To lead and participate in problem solving activities to identify root causes and to recommend sound corrective actions both practically and financially.

Skills / Experience

* Good standard of numeracy, ability to analyse data and performance.
* Previous experience of success within a similar role.
* Experience of managing a full production operation, including support functions.
* Experience of managing a P&L.
* Self-starter - highly motivated, seeking to continually improve and not afraid to challenge the 'norm'
* Strong leadership skills. Requires experience of managing small management teams. Strong ability to delegate and to communicate effectively.
* Continuous Improvement, Health and Safety Management and Lean Management experience.
* Will have experience of working within a production / manufacturing environment.
