An established Practice within St. James's Place Wealth Management are recruiting for a Part or fully Diploma Level qualified Technical Assistant / Paraplanner to join their team, based in Ashford Kent, due to expansion.

This role is available on either a part-time or full time basis, with a minimum requirement of 3.5 days per week (minimum 24.5 hours per week).

Role Overview

Working in a small team environment, working directly with the Financial Advisor / Business Owner, and the Practice Manager.

The Technical Administrator / Paraplanner shall provide full technical support to the team in terms of technical meeting preparation, and Suitability Letter writing for all transfer, replacement and new business cases, drawdown, protection and EIS/VCT letters.

This role would be particularly suited to someone seeking a long-term career as a Paraplanner, and shall be Diploma level 4 qualified

Role content:

The Paraplanner role will compile of a mix of Technical and Administrative duties including (but not exclusively) the following:

Technical
• Full review of client file and detailed technical meeting preparation; investment research, analytics and preparing proposed advice structure with business owner, ahead of client meetings
• Detailed attention to existing client files and needs - working with business owner to identify current and future opportunities in line with Practice objectives.
• Face to face and telephone debriefs with business owner after client meeting, note taking and technical discussions/advice structuring.
• Contact with clients, post meeting with follow up notes issued, where appropriate.
• Dealing with all technical actions arising from client meetings, ready for further presentation to business owner to take to the next stage.
• Inputting and full management of Voyant. Preparing presentations ahead of client meetings and run through with business owner, to ensure he is fully briefed.
• Dealing with all incoming client technical queries by both telephone and email (filtered through from Practice Manager). Proactively supporting business owner in this area and liaising with SJP technical teams where appropriate.
• Preparation of all Suitability letters, including transfer/replacement, new business, drawdown, protection and EIS/VCT letters, using all BAU checklists to keep quality high. Achieving a consistent 80% suitable first time record.
• Reviewing ceding scheme information collated from Practice Manager, preparing critical yield calculations and general sense checking of cases.
• Keeping up to date with all regulatory and financial market/industry changes.
• Providing a personalised and professional service internally and externally at all times.

Administration

• Preparing a compliant CFR, when submitting a case via Swift, using appropriate checklists and uploading correct documentation.
• Management and close monitoring of work in progress/business issued.
• Keeping day to day tasks up to date on task system and actioning within Practice service level standards.
• Working closely with Practice Manager to ensure smooth running of business.
• Ensuring adherence to service level standards for the Practice.
• Assisting colleagues in times of need when urgent tasks are required to be undertaken and prioritising workload accordingly. Team working.
• Dealing with incoming telephone calls in a professional and polite manner.

Skills & Knowledge required:

Technical Knowledge
• At least 2 years' prior experience in a similar Paraplanning position. A minimum of Diploma qualified, or working towards Chartered status
• Excellent technical knowledge and ability to think 'outside the box'.
• Excellent attention to detail and good level of suitable first time compliance rates (80% minimum). Methodical and thorough.
• Solid knowledge of financial products - Pensions, Life & Investments.

Personal Attributes

• Self-motivated. Is comfortable working independently, and also enjoys working as part of a wider team
• Good communicator
• Ability to be able to adapt to last-minute changes.
• Ability to be able to deal with HNWI's at ease and understand their needs.
• Excellent knowledge of all Office products and good understanding of Voyant/or similar cashflow planning software.
• Professional. Comfortable with direct contact with HNW clients as may attend meetings from time to time.
• May be required to travel to London or alternative locations for training courses.
• Driving license and own car - required due to remote location of the offices.

Additional Information

• Hours Full or Part time hours - minimum 24.5 hours a week, minimum 3.5 days per week (8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm standard full day hours)
• Location Ashford, Kent
• Salary - Basic GBP25-25k OTE depending on experience and qualifications.
• Holidays - 20 days per annum, plus bank holidays
