Established over 35 years ago and based in the heart of Wilmslow, Cheshire, Banks & Lloyd (Shipping) Ltd is a well-respected Freight Forwarder operating in global import and export markets.  

We offer clients flexible and reliable tailor-made logistics solutions utilising various modes of transport to facilitate and manage the safe, efficient and cost effective transportation of cargo.

The Role:

We are currently looking for a Freight Logistics Assistant to join the Company.

The role comprises coordinating a variety of aspects involved in the shipment process whilst providing the highest level of service. Responsibilities could include the following;

•    Acting as the point of contact between the client and the supplier ensuring service commitments are achieved and maintained in accordance with both client’s and company’s aims and objectives
•    Offering the best pricing solutions possible to the client for their shipments
•    Liaising with multiple network partners, shipping lines and suppliers
•    Providing up to date information to clients and offering outstanding customer service
•    Completing all the necessary documentation for Import and Export shipments
•    Carrying out customs clearance procedures
•    Maintaining and updating the in- house data base with a high level of accuracy
•    Sourcing potential new supply chain partners
•    Pricing, quoting, invoicing & reporting

The Person:

This is an excellent opportunity ideally suited to someone with the drive and determination to succeed in busy, lively environment.  You will have an outgoing personality and must be able to listen and follow clear instructions.

Experience in Freight Forwarding/Logistics/Transport is not essential as full training will be provided on the job, but previous freight experience would be advantageous. 

Being IT literate, you will prioritise your workload, working to tight deadlines, communicating effectively via e-mail and telephone and carry out multiple tasks at the same time

You will also assist other members of the department and the company to develop our relationship with our clients.

This role will test your organisational & self-management skills and teach you how to effectively solve problems and work efficiently under pressure. Initially you will find the role very challenging but if you are prepared to work hard and put the effort in to learn you will ultimately find the job extremely rewarding and satisfying.

The Freight Logistics Assistant role is office-based.

Salary: £16,000 – £22,000 subject to experience.
