Making it happen - your Role
We currently have vacancies for 5 Community Job Coaches each to run a project based in Bootle, Huyton, Toxteth, Chester and Salford. If you have a keen interest in making a difference and engaging with people and you are patient, empathetic and a good communicator then we would like to hear from you.
We offer both formal and on the job training, and our national specialists are on hand to provide expert advice and support in best practice, inclusion, quality and health and safety, providing exceptional support and making a difference to people’s lives. You will be fully inducted working alongside experienced colleagues.
United Response is a well established, national charity with an excellent track record in supporting young people and adults who have learning disabilities, mental health needs and physical disabilities to live the life they want. We employ around 3,500 staff throughout England and South Wales who share our person-centred values, which means that support is tailored to the need and wishes of each individual.
The role of the Community Job Coach is run peer support job clubs as part of a Journey to Employment project for disabled people and those with health conditions:
- on their journey back into employment,
- to increase confidence,
- to obtain and improve work ready skills and
- to engage with the local community to prevent social isolation.
The community Job Coach will
- provide community based disability support
- Work in partnership with Job Centre Plus and
- Work with employers to change attitudes and secure opportunities.
- Manage a co-facilitator with a lived experience of disability.

Job Requirements
The Community Job Coach will be expected to split their time between Jobcentre Plus, the J2E Job Club, and local employer engagement. They will oversee the delivery of 8 J2E Job Clubs of 12 weeks and provide on-going support through development of a weekly employment hub.
The Community Job Coach must have a lived experience or expert knowledge of disability and a real insight into the issues disabled people face in finding and securing employment. They will need excellent communication skills and be able to manage a range of tasks in the J2E Job Club, Jobcentre Plus and in the local community.
