Electrical Engineer - Speed Drives

Electrical Engineer / Drives Technician / Industrial Electrician / Variable Speed Drives / Control Systems

Electrical Engineer with previous experience working with speed drives and industrial control systems is needed for our client, the largest independent electrical and mechanical engineering company in the South East, with sites across Kent and Essex.

They are a reactive business providing repair services to industrial electrical equipment including AC/DC motors, Industrial Electronics, Pumps, Gearboxes, Generators and Drive Systems. Due to expansion and landing a long-term contract with a major utilities company, the company is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer, preferably with knowledge of various speed drives, to join the team at their Head Office in Sittingbourne, Kent.

This is diverse role, involving the installation of variable speed drives and fault finding with industrial control systems, mainly for 3 phase motor starters including star/delta, soft starts and variable speed drives. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on such equipment through a qualification scheme, time served apprenticeship or similar.

Duties:

  • Fault finding and repairing electrical installations and control systems, mainly for 3 phase motor starters including D.O.L star/delta, soft starts and variable speed drives
  • Removal/replacement of motor starters and control gear
  • Carrying out modification work to existing control panels
  • Talking to customers about their work requirements and resolving their problems
  • Working on installation works independently and as part of a team


Qualifications:

  • Qualified in 17th Edition IEE wiring regulations
  • 2391 or 2394/2395 Qualifications (desirable)


Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in repairing electrical installations and control systems, either through a qualification scheme, time served apprenticeship or similar
  • Able to layout and construct control panels from manufacturers recommended installation guides to customer requirements and carry out wiring from scratch
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team working skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work well independently
  • Ability to follow instructions and directions from supervisors / management
  • Computer Literate with windows and MS Office would be an advantage

Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
