We are currently recruiting for an Experienced Materials Buyer / Purchaser on behalf of our clients, a Construction Services Company based in Manchester.

To source and negotiate the best value building and construction materials on behalf of our Clients for sites across the UK.

Role: Construction Materials Buyer

Location; Manchester

Construction Materials Purchasing / Buyer:
• Evaluating material requirements for all sites
• Obtaining the most competitive material prices
• Liaising with site personnel ensuring that balance is maintained between cost and site progress
• Building and maintaining existing suppliers relationships
• Ensuring all transactions run to plan from order to payment meeting the requirements of QA system
• Preparing material letting schedules for all projects
• Maintaining and produce monthly reports
• Processing site requisitions
• Negotiating improved terms on a regular basis
• Managing procurement staff in administration (goods received)
• Assisting in the tender process and working in conjunction with estimators
• Ensuring cover for the administration of plant, stores and transport where necessary
• Sending out of material enquiries where necessary
• Providing KPI information on material procurement - monthly
• Submitting procurement information for monthly reports and report on information as and when required by the Board
• Attending monthly procurement meetings, cascade core brief and manage local brief
• Carrying out annual performance appraisals for direct reports
• Representing the building procurement department at divisional meetings
• General duties associated with the department as and when required

Requirements:
Experienced in Construction Materials Purchasing / Buying
Good knowledge of building materials and suppliers
IT literate (particularly Microsoft Office) with the ability to use bespoke computer systems
Commercially Aware
Proactive with the ability to handle the pressure of a demanding job
Able to interface with both colleagues and suppliers
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Planning skills, organised
Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with suppliers
People management skills
