The purpose of this role is the design of capital and revenue funded maintenance schemes for highway structures, structural load assessments and other activities related to the management of the county bridge stock as directed by the Structures Manager
The role:
Monitor and review the effectiveness of services, systems and processes to improve performance and ensure best value for stakeholders and customers, implementing improvements as agreed
Undertake design and management of schemes for maintenance and enhancement of highway structures
Undertake structural assessment of the county bridge stock
Undertake structural inspections and produce reports
Develop contract and tender documentation and lead the tendering and award of contract processes identifying appropriate selection criteria
Resolve complex service delivery issues and complaints in an appropriate and timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures
Act as a mentor, coaching and training colleagues in order to support learning and development objectives and priorities to meet service delivery standards
The minimum qualifications for this position are:HND or BSc in Civil Engineering
Experience in Highway Structures
Experience of Project Management
In depth knowledge of policies and procedures and legislative requirements relevant to service area
Knowledge of Health and Safety CDM regulations
Knowledge of Bridge strengthening, structural analysis and maintenance methods
Knowledge of contract preparation
Knowledge of bridge assessment
Full driving license or ability to demonstrate how you will meet the travel needs of the role
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:Working towards Chartered status
Computer aided design use of finite element software
Knowledge of Highway Law
