A fantastic opportunity has become available in Edinburgh to work with a well known and reputable financial service organisation to join the Data Division as the Head of DevOps.
As Head of DevOps within the CDO function you will play a key part in shaping the Data Strategy for the Bank, ensuring data becomes a key differentiator in the future success of the Bank.
As the Head of DevOps within the CDO function, you will be responsible for leading a team of developers to deliver a wide range of systems and services within the Data environment of the Bank. You will be responsible for delivering our very ambitious data roadmap; ensuring that your excellent stakeholder management enables data to be at the heart of every decision we make across the Bank.
You will collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver the business' data requirements in the most effective and efficient manner, challenging the business continually on their requirements and priorities
The key accountabilities are;
- Create and lead the CDO DevOps Strategy; ensuring vision is aligned to business priorities
- Play a pivotal role within the CDO Leadership team to develop the CDO Strategy and lead the development of the CDO function
- Through your extensive knowledge of modern data environments and thought leadership, lead the business in the development of their data capability and the implementation of best practice methodology, advocating Agile and Lean principles
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and influence transformational change to managing data, across multiple divisions
- Problem solve and collaborate to provide expert data solutions to the business
- Lead in the procurement and deployment of tooling and practices that allow the Bank to deliver the business' data requirements in a 'best in class' manner
- Lead, manage and develop the CDO DevOps team
- Support the delivery of bank-wide projects through influencing the data related inputs and outputs and continually leading development of process improvement and change across the DevOps community
- Ensure the CDO DevOps team deliver on their commitments across BAU and project space; ensuring that KPIs are developed that align to supporting the delivery of the overall data strategy, and that the department consistency meets and exceeds their KPI deliverables
- Responsible for the supplier leadership of outsourced development contracts, ensuring their approach and deployment is aligned to internal practices
- Accountable for balancing resourcing requirements within the CDO DevOps team to meet business need against budgetary constraints
What we need from you;
- Detailed understanding of a multitude of technologies and architectures through extensive industry experience
- Deep understanding of multiple technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, RDBMS
- A strong ability to deal with complex, often unique, problems in an effective, efficient and collaborative manner
- Extensive experience of leading high performance DevOps teams, ideally within a financial services environment
- Strong experience of build and build automation; modern configuration management tools; and automated deployment tools
- Experience of releasing in Cloud environments
- Highly analytical and methodical approach to problem solving
- Commercial awareness
- Strong influencing skills, with evidenced experience of managing senior stakeholders, up to and including Exco.
- Solid forensic analytical skills - driving right first time solutions
- Strong evidence of being able to turn data into actionable knowledge
