The Role:
Responsibilities:
* Build and operate high voltage/high current test circuits
* Working to and understanding IEC Test specification IEC60700
* Installing and pre-commissioning power electronic equipment
* Setting up, proving and fault finding of test circuits (from PCB level to HV circuits)
* Setting up high voltage and current measuring equipment
* Understanding and signing on to risk assessments and method statements
* Contributing to writing test reports
* Assist with day to day facility management, equipment deliveries
* Set up and operation of the facility's test circuit cooling systems
* Working with contractors and customers
* Carrying out routine maintenance on test plant equipment
* Operation of fork lift trucks and MEWPs within the facility (training can be provided)
* General housekeeping of the facility
* Take on health and safety roles eg Fire Marshal, First Aider (training will be provided).
* Possible short term site work may be available within the UK and abroad

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Previous electrical testing experience is essential
* Using test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, HV dividers, multimeters, shunts/CTs, power supplies, telemetry)
* Electrical / electronic testing/fault finding skills (PCB level to high voltage)
* HV Electrical Safety Awareness (clearances, earthing, Isolation, VAV)
* EHS Compliance (working to method statements, risk assessments, LOTO, permits to work)
* Correct use of basic workshop tools
* Wiring and soldering skills
* Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office, Email, internet.
* Working at height experience (eg in scissor lifts/MEWPs)
* Able to work independently and also part of a team, with good communication skills
* Very practically minded and able to work 'hands on'
