- Our client is a reputable precision manufacturing business looking for an Interim Purchasing professional to join their team.
- This is initially a 6-month interim position that shall be responsible for a number of sustainable purchasing cost reduction activities associated with the areas of direct and indirect spend.
- The role will at all times consider the Total Cost of Ownership, i.e. quality, supplier performance and services, ease of doing business, inventory investment, freight expense, payment terms, and pricing, etc. before making any change.
- Additionally, there is a need for the successful candidate to support the development of a small site Purchasing Team through coaching and mentoring of negotiation skills.

Job Core Responsibilities

- Analyses the company spend, identifies where the greatest cost saving opportunities exist and develops the project plan.
- Work with technical and operations in the purchase of capital equipment.
- Regular reporting and information sharing and escalation as req'd.
- Leads negotiation of improved terms and conditions or as applicable implementation of Long Term Agreements (LTA).
- Maintains accurate purchasing data in line with the sites Quality Management System.
- Optimises stock levels through VMI, Kanban and or frequency of delivery, etc.
- Supports development of existing purchasing staff negotiation skills.

Person Specifications

- A manufacturing background is vital, chemical or metal purchasing background shall be considered an advantage.
- Professional demeanour with a high level of confidence when negotiating with suppliers.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with a desire to progress and succeed.
- The ability to assimilate large amounts of data at one time.
- Computer literate, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word proficient.
- Candidate will be enthusiastic, confident and motivated.
- Degree level in a relevant field.
- CIPS qualified.
- Have demonstrated experience of leading price negotiations and implementation of LTA's.
- Good understanding of Quality and HSE systems
