Senior Security Engineer, Fortinet, Check Point (UTM), Palo Alto (UTM), Juniper IDP/NMS, Reading

You will work on securing some of the nation's biggest banks, public and private companies and Government networks. In this role you will learn about emerging Internet threats on a daily basis and be responsible for thinking of ways to protect your clients. You will work with the best people in your field and regularly participate in professional development and ongoing training.

Due to strong sustained growth we require highly experienced security professional(s) who will be responsible for the security management, monitoring, and implementation of security solutions.

Working closely with all aspects of the business, this is an integral role that will require an individual with the ability to understand client requirements both in terms of their business and IT needs.

In these roles you will fully utilise your expertise across a multitude of security products including Firewalls, IDS/IPS,WAF(Web Application Firewall), Endpoint Protection, URL filtering, Email and Web Proxy, information security, threat and content management, virus protection and VPN.

Key Accountabilities

As a Senior Security Engineer you will be accountable for:

  • Manage client networks and security infrastructure from the Security Operations Centre.
  • Managing, owning and coordinating technical resolution of faults.
  • Managing client expectations and escalating critical situations to appropriate levels of management.
  • Liaise with vendors, as required, to achieve problem resolution.
  • Accepting, managing and updating service requests to ensure contracted service levels are met and escalating issues affecting delivery of service to management.
  • Strong experience providing technical support and meeting agreed SLA's.
  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills and proven experience in analysing the complexity of escalated technical problems and developing and implementing solutions in the most cost effective manner.
  • Understanding the requirements of being part of a 24x7 on-call operation, including but not limited to, shift hand-over, operational advice, guidance, support and escalation.
  • Monitoring and maintaining policies and procedures.

Experience Skills and Qualifications

As a Senior Security Engineer your skills and qualifications will include:

  • Proven experience and expertise within all areas of network security technologies, vendor products and security governance.
  • network security experience working with enterprise clients.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of complex networks and troubleshooting methods.
  • Strong background in Fortinet (UTM), Check Point (UTM), Palo Alto (UTM), Juniper IDP/NMS, and Blue coat ProxySG
  • Highly Desirable: also Experience with ProofPoint (Email), HP Tipping Point, Imperva WAF, McAfee NSP IPS, Cisco FirePower (IPS) or Sourcefire IPS.
  • Experience with designing and implementing Firewalls, WAF (Web Application Firewall) policies, IDS/IPS policies and/or IPS/WAF custom Signature rule writing.
  • Good understanding of vulnerabilities, threats, risks, payload analysis, raw packet analysis, compliance and other aspects or security governance.
  • Experience working at the TAC or a MSSP.

Required tertiary qualifications

  • Desirable Industry/Vendor certifications such as: CCIE, CCSP, CCSE, JNCIS, NSE 8, SSFIPS, ICSSP, PCNSE, F5 Certified Technology Specialist etc.
  • Ability to interpret the complexity of technical problems.
  • Reliability to maintain focus on contracted deliverables at all times.
  • Excellent interpersonal, co-ordination and problem solving skills.
  • High level of initiative, accountability, professional diligence, attention to detail and ability to follow process.
  • Ability to work un-supervised as well as being able to work as part of a team in a pressured environment.
  • Proactive, flexible attitude to work with a willingness to constantly review and improve skills and process.
  • Partnership, Personal Commitment and Multi- Cultural Strength.
  • Document and explain technical details clearly and concisely.
  • Working knowledge of desktop word processing and communications software (Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
