This role is for 28 hours per week, 39 weeks per year and you will be expected to work a varied shift pattern.
Main tasks will include:
* The primary objective of this role is the security and safety of staff, students, visitors, New College buildings and their contents on all term times per year. This requirement means the post holder may be required to work a day or night shift system as the needs dictate.
* Checking student, staff, visitor and contractor passes and dealing correctly with any suspicious activity and/or suspicious packages.
* Regularly monitoring of alarm systems and checking that door access systems are fully operational
* Assisting with furniture moves for exams, functions & general day to day requirements etc. Preparing rooms for meetings, examinations, conferences and other events according to layout plans provided.
* Clearing of glass breakages, spillages etc.
* Receive external mail, sort and deliver to the appropriate person or area.
* Ensure that bulk supplies of stationery stock are delivered to departments e.g. copier paper
* To ensure that all common access areas of the building are in good order with a view to Health and Safety, Fire, and General Security.
* To move furniture in association with the Duty Supervisor
* To assist with emergency evacuations as necessary
* Able to deal effectively with arguments and disputes between persons on New College grounds to prevent further escalation.
* To provide cover for other Team members during holidays and sickness absence.
You will hold a minimum of Level 2 in Maths and English and hold a minimum of a NVQ Level 2 in a relevant discipline.
It is also essential that you are physically fit and able to work without supervision.
An enhanced DBS will be required for this role for which you will be expected to pay the £44.
