We are currently looking for a 2nd Line Support IT Helpdesk Engineer to join one of clients in Taunton
Working on the Helpdesk you will assist with the development of the 1 st Line support engineers and escalate calls where applicable. You will also maintain in-house computer systems, desktops and peripherals ncluding installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all hardware and
equipment where required.
Ideally (although not essential), the successful candidate will have the following experience,
Skills and attributes:
*Excellent customer service approach
*Excellent communication skills and ability to explain IT issues with non IT staff
*Previous IT 2 nd Line work experience (ideally at least 2 years)
*Ability to work efficiently and effectively
*Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet scheduled work deadlines
*A desire to further your career in IT
Role Purpose
Assist with the development of the Help-desk Engineer &; escalating calls. Maintaining in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals including installing, diagnosing,repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment when required.
Key Accountabilities
Work with end users to identify and deliver required PC service levels
Liaise with, and provide support to, end users on computer operation and other issues
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware/software products
Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions
Receive and respond to incoming calls regarding PC and/or hardware problems
Develop and maintain an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems,printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment
Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal Construct, install, and test customised configurations based on various platforms and operating systems Conduct research on computer products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend hardware products for purchase.
Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors
