An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Desktop Support Engineer to join the busy IT team at their Head Office in Carlisle.


Key Responsibilities

  • To provide 1 st line telephone support to internal users for both hardware and software. Logging calls on in-house system.
  • To provide users with guidance and support for in-house and Microsoft products.
  • To assist other members of IT Support when visiting sites.

Subject to training

  • To ensure software patches and updates are installed timely and where appropriate.
  • Set up new hardware and software prior to dispatch to users carefully following established routines and procedures.
  • To provide emergency support for business critical systems, servers and other hardware.
  • To check servers, backup reports and error logs in order to minimise downtime.
  • To keep clear and up to date records of equipment, its location and user/use.
  • To carry out duties as specified by the Group IT and Systems Manager

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to listen and learn
  • Full clean driving license.

Desirable Requirements

  • Part or recently completed college or university course in related subject.
  • Previous helpdesk experience.
