Wordery is a fast growing global online book retailer.
Based in Farnborough, Hampshire, Wordery was founded in October 2012 by a team of bookselling eCommerce entrepreneurs in partnership with Bertrams, one of the UK's largestbook wholesalers.With sales doubling annually since inception, Wordery is a significantly successful story in the start-up world.
Wordery sells a range of over 10 million books over to over 100 countries via 10 channels,and is one of the top booksellers in the UK.
Their dedicated D2C channel, wordery com , launched in October 2013 and is now a substantial part of the business and the key area of focus and growth.
The Role
Wordery is looking for a talented PHP Developer to join their expanding Development Team.
As a key member of an agile team, you will be responsible for producing clean, scalable and maintainable code in order to grow our bespoke eCommerce platform.
Reporting to the Development Lead, you will work closely with your colleagues within the Development Team (comprising of PHP and front end developers), as well as Business Operations, Marketing, and Design throughout the project lifecycle.
By joining Wordery you will be a driving force in accelerating the development of the eCommerce platform in order to offer their customers a better experience and to boost sales.
You must be a self starter who can hit the ground running, that thrives in a busy agile environment.
Responsibilities
??? Work as part of an agile development team
??? Create clean, maintainable, well thought out code
??? Design, deliver, test, and maintain new features
??? Build upon and improve the existing code base
Essential Skills and Experience:
??? OO PHP 5.6+
??? Linux shell
??? MySQL
??? MVC Framework experience (e.g. Zend Framework 2, Symfony, Laravel etc.)
??? Version control (preferably Git)
??? Strong written and verbal communication skills
??? Comfortable operating in a loosely structured and agile organization
??? Self-starter
