Role: Volunteers Coordinator
Location: St Ives, Cornwall
Salary: £10,887 per annum (ie pro rata to the full-time equivalent of £21,774 per annum)
Hours: 18 hours per week
Opportunity Type: Fixed Term 2 Years from 1st July 2017 - 31st June 2019.
Playing a key role in an exciting project, you will be instrumental to achieving Tate's vision - to champion art and its value to society.
At Tate St Ives, we show temporary exhibitions of international modern and contemporary art. 2017 is an exciting time to join us. Our existing building with a permanent display of art, telling the story of modernist art in St Ives from 1920 to the 1960s has recently reopened. And later this year we will open a brand new and expanded gallery space and new displays.
In this new part-time role you will develop and manage volunteer opportunities within our Learning, Membership and Visitor Experience teams. Crucially, you will support the Heritage Lottery Funded Legacy Project by recruiting and training a new team of volunteers for the St Ives Modernists Resource Room and Reception Area.
Proactively developing contacts across the community and relevant organisations, you'll promote opportunities for groups with particular skills. You will recruit and select volunteers, develop a training programme and support them with advice and guidance. You'll also take responsibility for related administration - from coordinating training programmes and volunteer rotas, to updating records and authorising expense claims.
To join us, you'll need proven experience of recruiting, selecting and managing groups of volunteers, and of devising and running training programmes. A real 'people person', you have a demonstrable ability to motivate diverse teams and create an environment in which people can flourish. Naturally, you will be highly organised, with written communication skills that equal your flair for engaging, collaborating and influencing people face-to-face.
This appointment is offered on a fixed-term contract of 2 years.
