About Assurity Consulting
At Assurity Consulting it's all about the customer. Our brand is built on our expertise, independence and the trusted partnerships we build with our customers across the UK and internationally - in fact in 2016 we celebrated 30 years in our industry! We currently employ 80 local people in and around the Horsham area, including a number of experts in workplace compliance.
The Role
Our Consultant role is the main point of call with our customers, so it is essential that our Consultants have the ability to project a professional image, show enthusiasm and have a positive attitude when facing new challenges and meeting new people. Our Consultants sell, service and deliver workplace compliance solutions to our customers. In order to fulfil their role, they split their time across three areas: account management, technical aptitude, business development/sales.
This role gives experience in a commercial environment, and provides you with account management and technical skills. Depending on where you are in your career, the Consultant role for a more experienced candidate could increase your current earning potential, as the role has a commission element to it too. Basic starting salary can be up to GBP25,000, and the employment package includes a number of other perks, including private healthcare, a pension scheme, profit share and a fully expensed company car.
From day one you will have a mentoring and support network with fortnightly training reviews, and have the chance to progress into a Senior Consultant or Management role. Being a Consultant at Assurity Consulting gives you a Sussex based lifestyle with the freedom to travel throughout the UK and further afield, and take part in charity events to support your local community.

- Undertaking site visits requiring in depth understanding of building environments and schematics as well the ability to accurately use technical equipment and;
- Analysing and interpreting results in order to clearly relay findings in reports to customers.
20% of the Consultant role requires Account Management skills
A considerable portion of a Consultant's time is spent managing their accounts, this includes:
- Delivering services to customers;
- Obtaining feedback from customers regarding their level of satisfaction with our service and any new areas they might require assistance with;
- Spending an appropriate level of time with them to develop good relationships and completing contract reviews within an appropriate time frame.
20% of the Consultant role about Business Development and Sales
In terms of business development, you are required to:
- Assist in the research and development of new services and markets;
- Network at marketing and industry events to build new relationships;
- Present at marketing and industry events to promote our services.
The sale side of your role would include:
- Securing new business from existing customers and prospects;
- Generating and following up sales leads and appointments by telephone from a targeted prospect list;
- Produce and present proposals to customers and prospects; develop new customer accounts into repeatable business.
Ideal skills for the role:
- Good verbal and written communication skills as the role requires interacting with our customers and writing your reports in plain English
- The ability to understand concepts and be able to relate them to different circumstances and explain them to others clearly and concisely. This is a key aspect of the job to help customers understand how they can comply with health and safety law
- The innate ability to be able to build rapport with people and sell our ideas and concepts and enlist our services in order to make their workplace healthier and safer
- The ability to successfully and efficiently manage your time
Necessary education and qualifications:
A degree or an equivalent level 5 or 6 qualification is desirable but not essential.
There is a lot of knowledge to learn to be effective in this role, and you will need to be able to demonstrate a proven ability to undertake self-directed learning, for example by completing other professional qualifications. A recognised qualification in health and safety or the environment would be an advantage, but is not crucial.
Ideal experience:
Experience selling products, services or concepts would be advantageous to you. Involvement in account management and presenting information to groups of people and demonstrate a good work ethic would be beneficial.

Progression within the company:
The Consultant role contains broad scope for both positional progression as well as educational progression. Consultants can reach a Senior Consultant position after 5 years of service at Assurity Consulting and from there can progress to a managerial position, if and when the opportunity arises. However, our Consultants are encouraged to learn subsequent 'services' and apply for Service Leader positions if they should so desire at any stage in their career, providing they prove they have the will and depth of knowledge needed.
