You'll be joining Group Tax, a department which manage a wide range of tax payment, deduction and reporting obligations both for the Group's own account and also for its customers and colleagues. These obligations involve ensuring that the Group is in full compliance with all of its statutory obligations, the Banking Code of Practice and that our tax costs are managed within the Group's risk appetite.Joining the Group Tax Compliance team, you'll be making a difference by supporting the Corporation Tax Managers and Senior Managers in providing a proactive Corporation Tax risk, assurance and advisory service. You'll help to ensure that the business is aware of, and understands the significance of its corporation tax legislation obligations, through the provision of accurate and comprehensive advice. Specific accountabilities will include:* responding to HMRC enquiries and notifying them as appropriate* preparing tax calculations and maintaining relevant databases* assisting in the production of tax training material for both the team and wider Group audiences* keeping abreast of developments in tax and in particular those relevant to your own specialist area, to ensure that changing compliance obligations are met and communicated* using your process mindset to assist in project management initiatives, in a SOX / SAO environment* working across our specialist Tax Advisory and Tax Reporting teams to understand complex transactions and their implications for both statutory reporting and annual CT returnsWhilst you may have worked in Financial Services before, it is certainly not a requirement. What we're looking for is the specialist knowledge of Corporation Tax principles that you'll have gained in either a large organisation, consultancy firm or relevant civil service department. This should include an understanding of loan relationships and you'll also need to evidence a good working knowledge of tax accounting matters under IAS 12.We expect that you'll have attained your professional qualifications - either accountancy based or tax specific exams. If you have the skills we're looking for and are yet to progress your professional tax qualifications, we can support you in studying for them. And you'll need to demonstrate strong analytical, time management and accuracy skills as well as excellent PC skills, including a good working knowledge of Alphatax software.
