Python Developer, Data Engineer

Python Developer with excellent skills in Python development is needed by our client a leading publisher to be based in their Bristol offices.

In the role you will be responsible for the development, maintenance and support of data processing software, developed by both internal and external teams.

You will:

  • Build clean code and unit tests for applications which meet the business requirements and design objectives live and breath tdd, / gamification
  • Work with others to establish the non-functional requirements in order to meet the business goals
  • Participate in code walkthroughs, design reviews and testing activities
  • Regular attendance and active contribution to agile/scrum meetings
  • Participate in events and meetings relating to the wider Data Hub team
  • Comply and contribute to the departmental as well as company standards and procedures

Required skills:

  • You must enjoy working in a small team in an active and collaborative manner.
  • You must also be happy to work independently
  • You must be able to write good grammar.

Essential

  • Must live and breath Python
  • And have developed web apps using it
  • Have pride in your disciplined approach to development
  • Desire and ability to deliver clean, elegant and well documented code.

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of relational databases
  • Experience of database design
  • Familiarity with Flask
  • Knowledge of AWS

Experience and qualifications:

  • You would consider yourself a senior developer
  • Understanding of agile / scrum development practices
  • A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures and algorithms
  • Degree in Computer Science or a similar technical subject is desirable
