Introduction
There's a time and a place to do what's right. Here, and now. Right now, we're looking for: • A Content Designer based at either our Swindon or Bristol office, with some expected travel across both locations.• GBP34,613-GBP46,151 a year + excellent benefits, dependent on skills & experience • This is a permanent position, on a 35 hour a week contract• Please provide a portfolio of your work to date (or a link to a portfolio), as part of your applicationWe're a studio of mostly ex-agency folk, doing what's right for Nationwide's 14 million customers. Online. In branch. At ATMs. Over the phone. We can do this because we're closer to stakeholders, process, data and insights than any agency ever could be. In short, we're on the inside. We know that content doesn't just happen. It's not filling boxes with words, and it's more than simply what you read on the page. So if all you're looking to be is a copywriter, we wish you well in your search. To think, plan, imagine, write, champion and deliver for us, you need to be a content designer.
Who we're looking for
This won't be your first copywriting role, but it'll probably be your biggest step up. At the very least, you'll come to us with:
Broad copywriting experience, ideally in a digital environment (or across projects with a strong digital focus), and preferably for clients within the banking or financial services sectors A good track record of delivering excellent writing, demonstrated through your portfolio Good commercial awareness, strategic thinking and an ability to deliver customer-focused copy Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams, as well as on your own
What you'll be doing
First, you'll need to prove you go way beyond the basics of good writing. Then you'll need to show us you how you've worked with other designers, producers, techs and PMs to shape and deliver messaging that engages and compels.
Our stakeholders and your Studio colleagues will look to you to bring the craft of outstanding digital writing to the fore through effective storytelling. To champion best practice at every stage of a project and be willing to argue the case for what's right, not what's easy. To assist and encourage other project stakeholders to follow our content processes. And above all, to put our members first.
Forget how many years you've spent thinking and writing this way - what does your portfolio say about you? Will it impress us? Did the projects you're proudest of prove effective? Answer 'yes', and you're more than a copywriter. You're exactly who we're looking for.
