Brief Outline:
Junior Quantity Surveyor - Drylining, Partitioning & Suspended Ceilings - GBP20k to GBP30k - Hertfordshire. An opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual who is fairly new to the construction industry possessing at least a year's experience to join a leading specialist sub-contractor as a Junior Quantity Surveyor.
About the Client:
Established over 30 years ago as a specialist contractor to the interior fit-out sector my client specialise in Partitions and Dry Lining (including Proprietary and Glazed Partitions), Suspended Ceilings, Carpentry, Joinery and Acoustic Treatments. They have extensive experience in the delivery of a variety of projects covering many sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Educational, Residential and Hotels. They work closely with Contractors and Architects to ensure that all the demands of the design and latest technology, which arise from complex construction projects, are met. Using their expertise my client have built up an excellent reputation, forging good working relationships which has resulted in repeat business with major Clients. My client is looking for an experienced Junior Quantity Surveyor in and around Hertfordshire.
About the Role:
* Attend project start up meetings and site visits
* Produce enquiry schedules from tender documentation
* Prepare sub contract packages
* Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors
* Prepare Bills of Quantities for projects on estimating programme
* Prepare commercial documents for handover to QS
* Ensure tenders are submitted completely and accurately and within the time scale provided
* Maintain appropriate supplier / subcontractor databases
* Set a personal example with respect to good business practice
* Positive promotion of the Company to their existing Clients, new Clients and potential Clients as well as peers within the construction industry
* Any other responsibilities which we may reasonably ask you to undertake and which are appropriate to your position
About the Candidate:
* Ideally qualified or working towards a HND/HNC or similar in Quantity Surveying
* 1-2 year's construction experience will suffice
* Must be flexible and able to work as part of a team and using own initiative
* Excellent communication skills in English
* Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages
* Literate and Numerate
* Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
* Ability to work to deadlines
* Must live a commutable distance into Romford
* UK residents only
