English Teacher and/or Lead Practitioner

MPS/UPS or LP 5-9 (GBP40,954 - GBP43,022)

Required for September 2017

We are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner to join us either, as a main scale English teacher or an English Lead Practitioner (GBP40,954 - GBP43,022). A recruitment allowance may be available for both posts with a TLR also potentially available for the MPS role.

At Costello we believe that every child deserves the very best education and challenge vehemently the idea that their social context should be a barrier to their academic success. We exist first and foremost to improve the life chances of young people through excellent care, teaching and guidance and believe that the relationship between home and school is paramount. Our culture is built on trust and cooperation between all stakeholders, enabling us to take risks, be honest, ask the difficult questions and support each other when necessary.

As leaders of learning we do not sit back and continue to do the same things year in year out, especially if we know we could do better. We invest heavily in CPD and training and have fantastic links with other schools and professional organisations. New ideas and approaches are welcomed with open arms and coaching is used to unlock potential. We work very closely with our 'family' of partner schools and are the current strategic lead for a unique teaching and learning project.

If applying for the main scale teacher position, attitude and potential is far more important to us than experience. Should you be interested in the Lead Practitioner role ideally you will have 3+ years classroom experience, will be able to demonstrate the impact of your work and should be comfortable in leading development work within the department and contributing to the whole school teaching and learning strategy. Most important of all you should be the type of person who likes a challenge, believes in their own abilities, wants to lead and is prepared to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in to making a difference to the lives of others.

Either way you should already be an outstanding classroom teacher (or have the potential to become one) with a passion for sharing pedagogy, taking risks, trying new things and enriching the lives of our students.
