My client is looking to take on a estimator to help the commercial team with an influx in work. They have acquired several projects in the area and are after someone who has rail experience to join the team.
Responsiblities will include:
- Oversee and/or interrogate design options and `value` solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles
- Support the development and implementation of the appropriate digital toolsets to execute cost take-off and other estimating activities, such as 5D cost planning
- Attend or carry out periodic Tender Health Checks and formal risk reviews to ensure that the identified risks are mitigated as far as possible in tender submissions
- Ensure that cost planning and estimating are accurate and reflect the project requirements and risk profile
- Provide mentoring on bids to less experienced Estimators and the bid teams, if required
The right candidate will:
- Have previous experience of managing/implementing all aspects of the estimating process for projects, within the construction industry
- Hold a valid CSCS card
- Have membership of a relevant professional body and/or a relevant professional qualification RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE (desirable)
- Have working knowledge of best practice solutions and optimisation of innovative ideas
- Be knowledgeable of pricing and quantification methods
