Senior English Language Teacher - Oxford
Summary of Position:
The role of the senior teacher is to oversee the English Language programme onsite. You will be required to assist in the preparation of the course although all resources will be provided. Your role will involve coordinating induction morning with new students, taking the lead in testing students' ability level and placing them in the correct class. The main aim of the English programme is to achieve full integration between International and British children, who will also be attending camp.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging English lessons for classes of up to 12 children aged between 8 and 16 in ability level groups from beginner to advanced
Support the Centre Manager on camp in an administrative and operational capacity
Ensure all policies and procedures on camp are adhered to by yourself and the children in your care, including health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
Take a pastoral role welcoming new children into your group and liaising with the Centre Manager, Academic Manager and/or parents as necessary
Monitor student progress and provide written feedback to parents in report form at the end of each student's time on camp
At all times behave in a manner that reflects the expectations of Varsity International
Show the required energy, enthusiasm and professionalism for the duration of the season, acting as an ambassador for Varsity International and behaving as a suitable role mode for children.
Requirements:
CELTA/TESOL qualified or PGCE (Primary, English or MFL) or equivalent. DELTA preferred. Extensive experience in teaching English to foreign students and of working on a residential camp.
Experience of teaching EFL to children of different nationalities, ability and age.
Experience of holiday summer schools or activity camps desirable, residential speficially.
Flexible, team player, able to adapt to dynamic situations and challenges on camp.
A first degree
Hours of work: Sunday - Saturday (at least one full day off a week). Shift patterns of 6 hours.
Rate of Pay: Competitive. Food and accommodation provided on site
Contract: Seasonal work available in Summer School Holidays
