CLERK TO COUNCIL

Salary: £36,001 - £40,523; pro rata

21 hours per week, 2 year fixed term contract

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Clerk to Council.

The person appointed will be an employee of the Learned Society of Wales (LSW) and will be based at the Society’s office in Cathays Park, Cardiff. The person appointed will form part of the Society’s Secretariat team working alongside the Senior Executive Officer, Fellowship and Engagement Office, Finance and Administration Officer and reporting to the Chief Executive.

The Clerk will provide a professional and friendly point of contact for providing support to the Chair and Chief Executive of the Learned Society of Wales (LSW), and to its Officers in respect of the wide range of functions carried out by the Society with regard to the development and implementation of its administrative governance procedures and systems. 

This is a key role within the LSW’s small team. You will have the skills and experience to provide outstanding support to Council and its committees. The post holder is expected to be a proactive self-starter with solid judgement, the ability to operate independently with high levels of autonomy and engage effectively and flexibly with Fellows, external partners and stakeholders as and when required.

This is a fixed-term, part-time appointment, for a period of two years (with the possibility of extension) from the date of appointment on an incremental Higher Education salary scale of Grade 7.

Bydd yr unigolyn a benodir yn gyflogedig gan Gymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru yn swyddfa’r Gymdeithas ym Mharc Cathays Park, Caerdydd.

Bydd yr unigolyn a benodir yn ymuno â thîm Ysgrifenyddiaeth y Gymdeithas gan weithio gyda Uwch Swyddog Gweithredol, Swyddog Cymrodoriaeth ac Ymgysylltu, Swyddog Cyllid a Gweinyddu a bydd yn atebol i’r Prif Weithredwr.

Bydd y Clerc yn darparu cymorth proffesiynol a chyfeillgar i Gadeirydd a Phrif Weithredwr Cymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru ac i’w Swyddogion mewn perthynas â’r amrywiaeth eang o swyddogaethau’r Gymdeithas o ran datblygu a gweithredu ei gweithdrefnau a’i systemau llywodraethu gweinyddol.

Mae hon yn swydd allweddol o fewn tîm bach Cymdeithas Ddysgedig Cymru.  Bydd gennych y sgiliau a’r profiad i ddarparu cymorth rhagorol i’r Cyngor a’i bwyllgorau. Disgwylir i’r deiliad swydd fod yn hunan-gymhellol gyda doethineb cadarn, y gallu i weithredu’n annibynnol gyda lefelau uchel o ymreolaeth ac ymgysylltu’n effeithiol ac yn hyblyg gyda Chymrodyr, partneriaid allanol a rhanddeiliaid fel bo’r angen.
