Assistant Shop Manager
Permanent
GBP7,101 per annum with annual progression up to GBP7045pa
16 hours per week
Location: Stockton Heath, Warrington
The Children's Society has more than 90 shops across the country, with our staff and over 2000 volunteers helping to raise more than GBP8million last year, which goes towards transforming the lives of vulnerable children and young people. This key role works in our Stockton heath book Shop, handling the day to day running of the shop (to include Sunday), as well as managing 20 volunteers.
We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Manager to assist the Shop Manager in maximising sales and to run the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager. A key part of this will be your ability to assist the Shop Manager in the setting of sales and expenditure targets and ensure plans are in place to achieve them.
Your key tasks will include management of stock, and assisting in the recruitment, training and retention of shop volunteers. You will be helping in the planning and implementation of internal and external sales promotion as requested by the Shop Manager.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
In order to be successful in this role, you must have experience in customer services.
You must have a track record of strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise a team of volunteers. You must also have GCSE English and maths or equivalent and a basic understanding of the retail environment and of working with volunteers. Your experience should also include cash handling if possible.
The Children's Society runs over 100 local services that help thousands of young people who desperately need our support, and we campaign to get laws and policies changed to make children's lives happier and safer.
Every day we're changing the lives of children in this country for the better - and with your help, tomorrow we can be there for even more.
Vacancy closes midnight: 26/04/2017
