We're looking for reliable and motivated people to join our team in Hertfordshire. We want people with great communication skills to help make a difference to the lives of the people we support. You will support the individual to do the things they want to do - not to do things for them. You will act as the eyes and ears to ensure that communication is clear and that they are able to move around safely.

You'll be matched to support one or more people, with each person requiring between 2 and 4 hours support each week.

About the role

We have both Intervenor and Communicator Guide opportunities. Intervenors provide one-to-one support to a child or adult who has been born with sight and hearing impairments - known as congenital deafblindness. Communicator Guides offer support to people who have developed sight and hearing impairments, often as they get older.

Welwyn Garden City


A gentleman would like additional support for 4 hours per week to get out and socialise in the community.
A friendly lady with a great sense of humour requires support for 2 hours per week; she enjoys visiting garden centres and the pub for a glass of wine and lunch!
A child requires support to play, engage and communicate for 2 hours one afternoon during the week; In addition to 4 hours alternate weekends.


Waltham Cross


A football fan enjoys visiting Lee Valley park for walking, coffee and exploring for 2 hours per week.
A child requires support one afternoon for 3 hours per week, to enjoy play whilst learning and developing independence.


About you

The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be willing to work toward, a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and also BSL level one or possess native sign language skills. You will have had experience of working with and providing practical support to, people with learning disabilities and / or multisensory impairments.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for these roles.

We also have casual (bank) opportunities in this area attracting an hourly rate of GBP8.52.
