Senior Systems Test Engineer - Router/Access Points

You will be joining the newly created Communications Software Team, which is tasked with development and delivery of Embedded Software for the portfolio of Communications and Networking Products. The team reports to the Director of Customer Technology and is organized into sub-functions for QA, development and release management. This role falls under the QA function.

Your Key Responsibilities

Your role will be to test network devices by devising and executing manual and automated tests to validate the functional and performance capabilities of communications products. This position is also required to play a leading role in the investigation of reported issues through the determination and execution of reproduction scenarios. This role is also expected to work in close collaboration with the development team to implement diagnostic processes to support identification of root cause and verification of any remedial measures.

Test Design & Continuous Improvement

•Create and maintain robust and repeatable test plans and test cases to verify functional and non-functional quality of networking product firmware.

•Develop and implement automated solutions for execution and reporting of test cases using appropriate frameworks and tooling.

•Continuously explore and develop new test methods and tool chains recommending changes to existing approaches as appropriate.

•Build and maintain test environments for use-case driven functional scenarios.

•Build and maintain test environments for non-functional (e.g. stress & soak) testing.

Test Execution

•Manually execute test cases within agreed timescales, recording results and providing any data to support Investigation into any test failures.

•Setup, execute and monitor automated test runs.

•Lead the development and execution of ad-hoc test scenarios to support reproduction and investigation into reported issues.

•Work in close collaboration with development team to devise appropriate diagnostics and root cause diagnosis activities.

Test Reporting & Documentation

•Record test result output into relevant systems and log / update defect information into Issue tracking system.

•Provide testing insight and result input into operational meetings where necessary.

•Generate and maintain clear, accessible documentation of test setups and Infrastructure, critical procedures, equipment inventories and test plans.

Your Skills

•Good working knowledge of software release procedures and software defect tracking processes.

•End-user / application knowledge of consumer network products such as Broadband Routers, Modems, Wireless Access Points, Powerline, NAS Devices, Set Top Box.

•Test case design and execution experience covering full system testing, risk based testing, stress/soak testing, investigative testing, and benchmarking.

•Proven experience of designing, writing and executing functional and non-functional test cases.

•Experience working within automated test environments for embedded software.
