My client is a leading FTSE250 based in North Bristol who are going through a significant transformation. The IT Shared Services Head of Applications is accountable for delivery of Applications Management Services to all IT Shared Services Customers. The Applications Management Service covers support and development and the purpose of the role is to ensure that all Applications covered by the Service are delivered to consistently high standard.
The Head of Applications is responsible for the operational aspects needed for the applications to function as required by the business and has responsibility for the design, testing and improvement of applications that form part of project portfolio. This role has overall leadership accountability for the development, staffing, quality, stakeholder management, supplier management and risk management of the applications team.

Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for Applications Management Service Delivery across all in scope systems
- Owns the Application Management Service and ensures it remains fit for purpose
- Ensures all Incidents and Service Requests are addressed within a timely manner in line with SLAs
- Ensuring that BAU service activities and disciplines (including License Management, Capacity Management, & Problem Management) are followed
- Maintaining roadmaps and release schedules for all applications and ensure that applications remain 'evergreen' in line with IT Strategy
- Working with Business Owners to ensure that roadmaps are aligned with business strategies.
- Delivering Application changes in support of Business Projects to agreed timescales and costs
- Accountable for ensuring the completion of Disaster Recovery plans and artefacts and participation in Disaster Recovery (live and regular tests) and Business Continuity Planning and testing
- Responsible for ensuring that best practice development, configuration and system management processes and controls are adopted and maintained across the department
- Financial control and management of budgets
- Responsible for the management of any 3rd party providers involved in the provision of software or services including the setting of and delivery against SLAs and KPIs as well as the review of commercial arrangements
- Accountable for ensuring that Mitie's Application Systems comply with the requirements of both internal and external audits in all respects.
- A background in and significant experience of Applications Development and Support
- Experience of working with and Managing SAP teams and Systems
- Experience working with 3rd party service providers in different delivery models, complex landscapes and extended supply chains
- A strong ITIL Background and experience of applying the ITIL disciplines in Application Delivery Management
- Experience of managing in a high-pressure IT Production Services Environment. Possibly gained through an outsourced services provider. This experience should demonstrate leadership as well as management and should include direct and matrix organisational roles
- Business planning experience including preparation of budgets, financial reporting, financial modelling, creating fully costed business cases and accompanying presentations
