We're looking for a reliable and motivated person to join our professional team as a Senior Support Worker (Communicator Guide) in Peterborough working on a casual basis within a community setting. We are looking for people to join our team of adaptable and motivated individuals with great communication skills to help make a difference to the lives of the people we support.

The opportunity is available on a casual basis and it is likely that work will mainly be offered during school holidays (three times a week for 5-6 hours) and occasionally during weekends and evenings. We will provide you with the hours available in advance, to accept if you wish, and then can plan your life accordingly.

This role will support a young lady in developing her independence and communication skills within the community setting. This will include attending deaf clubs, trips out to local cafes, shops, garden centres; attending sport activities like swimming. It is vital that you have a caring nature and can positively focus on and motivate the individual through helping in achieving their full potential.

Communicator Guides (Senior Support Workers) offer support to people who have developed sight and hearing impairments; you will support the individual to do the things they want to do - not to do things for them. You'll be there to act as the eyes and ears of the individual - to make sure that communication is clear and that they are able to move around safely.

Experience of being a Communicator Guide previously is not essential; we are able to support you and provide you with an excellent induction. However, it is really important that you are able to demonstrate the right values and behaviours to enable you to make a difference to people's lives.
