King's College, Taunton and King's Hall School are two of the South-West's leading co-educational boarding/day schools. After long and outstanding periods of service our current Director of Finance is leaving to take up the role of Bursar at Exeter School on 1 January 2018 while at the same time the Director of Operations is leaving to return to his native Wales. These departures have given us an opportunity to look at the leadership of operations throughout both Schools and the School Council now seeks an outstanding Director of Finance and Operations to provide strong operational, financial and strategic leadership, ensuring the efficient and integrated delivery of a range of services in support of the two Schools. For an exceptionally able individual, this post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Schools' ongoing success as one of their most influential leaders.
The successful candidate will offer a significant track record of senior leadership, financial and management experience. He or she will be a creative strategic thinker with a strong personal ethos of service, a collaborative approach and a commitment to enabling others. An accomplished communicator, the appointee will possess highly developed interpersonal skills and robust intellectual abilities, with a flexible, results-focused approach to work, combining a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage a significant and varied workload whilst always meeting significant deadlines. While a formal accounting qualification is not a pre-requisite, detailed experience of financial matters is essential, as is a genuine resonance with a traditional, but forward-thinking approach to independent education.
The role also encompasses that of Clerk to the Governors.
