Role :
This varied role will provide mechanical engineering support as part of the design function group.
Key Accountabilities:
+ Develop mechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics , thermodynamics , hydraulics , heat transfer , and materials
+ Confirm system and product capabilities by designing suitable feasibility and testing methods
+ Assure product / system fitness for function and robustness by designing appropriate validation and verification testing for engineering sign-off
+ Provide expert point of contact for colleagues on technical issues related to areas of job responsibility and resolve engineering problems including support of post-test analysis activity
+ Lead and support of development technicians , prototype product and system assembly activities
+ Lead and support design team activity for new products and mechanical systems including bill of materials management.
+ Undertake CAD design activity including engineering change requests ( ECR ) and design release as required by programme schedules
+ Work with customers / partners to develop and integrate solutions
+ Oversee the processing of development materials and designs , through the procurement process , internal manufacturing processes , on to test and through Post Test Analysis
+ Review the performance of development materials and designs and feedback to customers / partners on the respective performance
+ Maintain a focus on company IP and arising IP
+ Timely presentation of project progress status
+ All mechanical solutions to be suitable for cost effective manufacture , assembly and compliance with appropriate standards
Skills and Experience
+ Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent high level qualification
+ Minimum five years experience related to the above accountabilities ; experience in automotive, aerospace or white-goods sectors would be an advantage
+ Extensive knowledge of engineering theory and application
+ Knowledge of small batch and series production manufacturing and assembly processes
+ Familiarity with applicable codes , standards , and acceptable industry practices
+ Capability with PTS Creo / Pro-Engineer modelling software is an advantage
+ Ideally experience using Product Data Management systems
+ Sound verbal and written communication skills to enable effective liaison with partners , suppliers and colleagues , and the exchange of complex subjects to international customers and partners
