JOB TITLE: Field Engineer

REPORTS TO: Lead Field Engineer

FUNCTION: Network Operations - Eastern Region

LOCATION:Stevenage

SALARY: Band D-F dependong on qulaifications

Job Purpose:

To work as part of a team within the Eastern Region geographical area. In addition the role will include supporting Capital Programme, Connections, and Faults within the area. This includes liaison with customers, network operations and control, networks planning and supervision of field staff and management of contractors.

Dimensions: No direct reports or financial budget

Principle Accountabilities:
Ensure high standards of safety management throughout all areas of responsibility.
Responsibility for delivery of all maintenance, construction and fault works to time, cost and quality.
Ensuring staff comply with all policies and procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
Daily planning, co-ordination and real time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources.
Liaise with HV/LV control - submission of HV/LV switching log, complete HV/LV network operations in accordance to distribution safety rules and policies and procedures etc.
Ensure that the Asset Database - Ellipse, is updated with completed work etc. as required by the system.
Support and provide technical support to field staff,
Manage and resolve any contract actual issues, with the support of Contract Management.
Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of projects work as and when required.
Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and take action to rectify any quality issues identified.
Liaise with and manage relationships with our customers with the aim of meeting their expectations wherever possible.
To be prepared to assist other sections as and when required e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies etc as determined by your skills, knowledge and experience.
Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (Standby) as and when required.
Nature and Scope:
The post holder will be an integral part of the team responsible for the delivery of all Maintenance, Capital Programme, Connections and Faults work within a geographical area. In conjunction with the scheduling team, Field Staff Supervisor and Field Staff you will be responsible for delivering an excellent service to the customer, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Essential
Good organisational and communication skills
LV Field Engineer / Trainee Engineer = Band F
HV Field Engineer with Full 11 kV SAP plus minimum of ONC = Band E
EHV Field Engineer with full 33kV and or 132kV SAP with HNC = Band D

ONC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
HNC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
LV/HV and authorisation on the EPN network
EHV (33kV) authorisation on the EPN network
IT literate including Ellipse, SAP etc.
Current valid driving licence

Desirable
NRSWA (City & Guilds) Supervisors certificate
IOSH Managing Safely certificate
Familiarity with MS Excel spreadsheets
