Governance and Risk Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a Governance and Risk Manager at this council. In this role the successful candidate will support the Council's governance, performance management, information governance, risk management and compliance functions and deliver the Governance Action Plan.

Working within the Directorate of the Borough Secretary the main responsibilities of the role are:-

- Monitoring the Governance Action Plan and reporting on the implementation of the agreed actions
- Leading on the development and implementation of strategic planning and performance arrangements across the Council
- Developing and maintaining an effective risk management framework compliant with ISO 31000 and CIPFA/SOLACE standards
- Providing an emergency planning and business continuity service to the Council
- Leading on the management of risks relating to information compliance
- Managing information audits according to standards

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, be a qualified member of the IRM. Experience of working within a complex and diverse organisation is essential as is a solid understanding of the legal / regulatory / corporate governance requirements of local government.
