PDSA has an exciting opportunity for a Volunteering Development Manager to join their team based in Telford. You will be on a full time permanent contract, with a highly competitive salary.

As our Volunteering Development Manager you will define and agree PDSA’s volunteering strategy to support the delivery of PDSA’s Business Plan. Develop and implement plans that underpin the strategy and engage key stakeholders. You will provide inspiration and leadership to enable all parts of PDSA to successfully engage volunteers in delivering PDSA’s Business Plan and promote a culture of volunteer involvement and recognition.

Main responsibilities of our Volunteering Development Manager

- Work with senior leaders / stakeholders to identify, develop and implement plans to involve and engage volunteers in the delivery of their strategic plans

- Develop strategies for fully integrating volunteers within PDSA building partnerships between employees and volunteers

- Protect and promote the reciprocal nature of volunteering ensuring it is reflected in PDSA’s approach to volunteering, that our volunteers’ needs and expectations are met and that they understand the impact they have

- Evaluate volunteer deployment and management identifying where volunteers can add value and implementing plans to make the best use of volunteers’ skills and experience maximising their effectiveness and involvement

- Provide expert advice and guidance across the whole volunteering landscape to the organisation protecting PDSA from risks arising from involving volunteers

- Work with colleagues in Human & Corporate Resources to ensure that our volunteering practices remain fit for purpose and in line with organisational needs enabling PDSA to effectively recruit, retain and value its volunteers

- Identify and promote organisational volunteering best practice and encourage a culture of continuous improvement of and compliance with volunteering

practices.

- Develop, review and continually improve volunteering activities, KPIs and impacts by engaging key stakeholders and benchmarking

- Maintain awareness of the external environment, translating legislation, developments and social trends that may affect volunteering at PDSA

- Develop PDSA’s profile internally and externally sharing best practice, case studies and volunteering expertise

- Develop national volunteering campaigns, promotions and initiatives

- Collaborate with Health and Safety Committees on all matters affecting volunteers

Knowledge and skills required to become our Volunteering Development Manager

- Experience of volunteer management

- Experience in developing & implementing strategy aligned to organisational needs through others

- Proven project management skills

- Ability to develop, drive & implement sustainable change / new initiatives through others

- Excellent influencing & communication skills, both verbal and in writing
