Job Title: Grounds Operative Assistant
Post Number: ES37165
Salary: Grade 1 GBP15,917 - GBP16,191 p.a pro rata for hours worked
Working Hours: 37 (Annualised hours based on 37 hours per week)
Location: Cavendish Road or sites within the Borough
Contract: Fixed Term - expected to continue until 30 November 2017
The Heart of a Town Lies in its People" and at Stevenage Borough Council our people are
at the heart of what we do.
We are looking for hard working, conscientious people to work throughout Stevenage,
carrying out a wide range of duties within the Street scene areas of grass cutting,
landscaping, horticulture, parks and cemetery operations to a high standard at any location
within the Borough.
Duties will include:
The ideal applicant will ideally have knowledge of :
The care and maintenance of shrubs, hedges, bedding and verge maintenance on
highways, open spaces and recreation areas. This will also include leaving sites litter free
and any other works necessary.
Successful candidates will ideally have a working all round knowledge of grounds
maintenance hand held equipment and duties, combined with the ability to manage their
own workload within a team. You will have good working relationships with colleagues and
the public and understand safe working practices. The ability to work daily shifts over a
seven day working week, where enhanced payments will be paid.
On the job training will be provided where necessary in the operation of mechanical
horticultural machinery.
