Funded by BEIS, the European Regional Development Fund, LJMU and the University of Liverpool; Sensor City is a new innovation centre for sensor technologies. Delivered by Sensor City Liverpool Ltd and supported by joint venture partners; LJMU and the University of Liverpool.

The Sensor City Lead Mechanical Technician will provide an effective and efficient technical service within Sensor City for customers, including company clients as well as University staff and occasionally students.

You will maintain a close working relationships with current projects and supporting project teams to find solutions to create or develop sensor technology as directed by the Business Development Manager at Sensor City. This will also involve working closely with the Lead Electronics Technician and the Lead Software Technician and across academic and business networks.  Proven problem solving and innovation skills would be desirable.

The role will also involve the planning and organising of resource provisions, the setting up and operation of scientific apparatus/instruments and the management of materials that are required for projects or for research and development.

Regular communication will be needed with the Sensor City team and customer representatives on issues relating to the technical services, facilities and equipment under their supervision.

This role will initially be as an employee of LJMU, seconded into Sensor City Liverpool Ltd. However, it is envisaged that your employer may change to Sensor City Liverpool Ltd at a future date.
