Our Client is a Document Management division and is one of the UK’s leading on-site and off-site shredding companies, providing confidential document and data shredding services throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. They are serious about the services they provide and are serious about putting their employees at the heart of their organisation.

They currently have an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven and people focused General Manager to lead their team in Crayford. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for approx. 72 employees made up of Management staff, Drivers, Warehouse Operatives, Administration and Customer Service support.

This is a highly visible management role that is crucial to the success of the depot so they are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to engage, motivate and inspire the team to deliver.  You will have a high degree of practical involvement to enable ongoing monitoring, development and improvement of best working practices and will maintain and develop the divisional business pool through improved customer retention and enhancement of existing business.  In addition, you will be using your well developed people management skills to drive key initiatives as well as coach and develop your team to build a strong, competent pipeline of succession.

You will be a strong manager of people with sound commercial awareness and judgment and an ability to prioritise according to the demands of a very busy operation. You will be able to evidence driving a change management process whilst managing budgets and costs and will possess a ‘can do’ customer centric approach with demonstrable management experience preferably within a service industry. The depot runs a 24 hour operation and they are looking for someone with a commitment to delivering business results and a good level of financial acumen as well as experience of setting and monitoring performance objectives (KPI’s).

The successful candidate will be required to live within reasonable commuting distance of the site in Crayford which is on the Kent/Bexley border.
